A unified, open-source digital platform for monitoring performance, verifying impact, and accelerating rural electrification across the continent.
About the AMP Digital Platform
The Africa Minigrids Program (AMP) Digital Platform is a strategic initiative designed to implement a unified, open-source digital infrastructure for monitoring and managing renewable energy minigrids across Sub-Saharan Africa. Built as a customization of the Prospect Energy platform, the solution establishes a multi-tiered architecture with one regional oversight dashboard and ten national deployments to enable real-time performance monitoring, cross-country data aggregation, and auditable verification for results-based financing (RBF).
By standardizing data collection through the Quality Assurance and Monitoring Framework (QAMF), the AMP Digital Platform empowers diverse stakeholders—from national regulators and financial officers to minigrid operators—to make evidence-based policy decisions, streamline compliance reporting, and secure sustainable investment for rural electrification.
Key Features
Unified Regional & National Oversight
Whether you are a Regional Coordinator comparing cross-country KPIs or a National Regulator monitoring local electrification targets, our dashboards provide real-time visibility into site status, energy generation, and active customer connections.
Automated RBF Verification & Financing
Accelerate financial sustainability with built-in tools for Results-Based Financing (RBF) verification. By digitizing the verification workflow, we reduce uncertainty and ensure that funding reaches high-performing operators faster.
Streamlined Compliance & Standardized Reporting
Simplify the regulatory burden with automated reporting that aligns strictly with the Quality. This ensures high-quality, standardized data that meets compliance requirements without requiring hours of manual consolidation.
What's possible with the AMP
Digital Platform?
Geographical Coverage
The 21 AMP countries represent a diverse set of African countries, each with their own energy market specificities and development contexts: large and smaller markets; Anglophone, Francophone, and Lusophone countries; small island developing states; and countries in post-crisis contexts.
The AMP Network
Participating Country Governments
We work with government officials and policymakers to create the right regulatory conditions for projects to thrive.
Private Sector Partners
We rely on businesses and investors to work collaboratively to support innovative entrepreneurial solutions to scaling minigrid projects and attract further investment.
Technicians and other Project Staff (Country Level)
Experts in the minigrid development sector and constructions work with our experts to bring projects to life and navigate local government licenses and approvals.
Communities interested in information on the Project and Vision
Communities who live off-grid seeking a more reliable source of energy work with the rest of the AMP Network to take the needed steps to get granted permission to commission and proceed with projects.
